The Bright Futures Grant is Orange County Power Authority’s annual community funding opportunity that supports projects from local non-profits, schools, and educators. Organizations located in or supporting OCPA member cities – Buena Park, Fullerton, Irvine, and Fountain Valley – are eligible for funding.
The Bright Futures Grant is OCPA’s annual community funding opportunity that supports local non-profits, schools, and educators in their efforts to educate communities on the benefits of renewable energy and Community Choice Aggregation (CCA).
Grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 will be awarded to entities that have creative, innovative, and effective approaches to promoting renewable energy education, particularly in underrepresented communities and through multilingual campaigns.
Priority will also be given to initiatives that bring multiple partners together to collaborate on renewable energy education.
This grant opportunity is a unique chance for organizations to make a meaningful impact on their communities and create a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
Application window: June 1, 2026 – July 3, 2026
Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. PST on Friday, July 3, 2026.

Grant Eligibility Criteria:
- Non-profits, schools, and educators based in or that serve an OCPA member city: Buena Park, Fullerton, Fountain Valley, and Irvine
- Focus on educating the community on the benefits of renewable energy and Community Choice Aggregation
- Endeavor to target underrepresented communities and multilingual communities
- Demonstrate clear goals and objectives and include a budget and a plan for project sustainability
- Grant recipients must submit progress reports at six (6) months and twelve (12) months, and share materials including logos and photographs to showcase grant projects
Previous Bright Futures Grant recipients are eligible to apply for the 2026 grant cycle, but may not receive funds more than two years in a row.

Distribution of Funding:
After applications are identified for awards, the awarded entities will work with OCPA to determine a timeline for the distribution of funds. OCPA aims to work with a diverse range of applicants and reserves the right to adjust reporting requirements.
