Orange County Power Authority Announces 2026 Board Chair and Vice Chair

Local, not-for-profit, renewable energy provider reappoints its Board of Directors officers for another year.

IRVINE, Calif. (January 13, 2026) – Orange County Power Authority (OCPA), a locally governed not-for-profit community energy provider, appointed its 2026 Board Chair and Vice Chair at the first Board meeting of the year on January 12. The Board of Directors once again named Buena Park representative Susan Sonne as the Chair and Irvine representative James Mai as Vice Chair.

“I am honored to serve as the Chair of the Orange County Power Authority Board of Directors for another year,” said Chair Sonne. “We’ve made great progress toward our clean energy goals in the last year, including signing two power purchase agreements for new-build renewable energy. I look forward to continuing the collaboration with my fellow Board Members and the OCPA staff to meet our objectives of rate stability and launching customer programs that support our communities.”

OCPA’s Board of Directors consists of elected officials who are appointed by the city councils of its member cities to provide oversight and strategic counsel while representing the communities in which they serve. The 2026 Board is comprised of five members committed to OCPA’s mission to provide the choice of renewable energy while reinvesting to support sustainable communities. In the coming year, OCPA will continue advocating for energy affordability at the state and federal level, while launching new programs to help customers save energy and money.
