Orange County Power Authority Swears in New Board of Directors

Fred Jung named Chair and Kathleen Treseder named Vice Chair

IRVINE, Calif. (January 17, 2023) – The Orange County Power Authority (OCPA) swore in its new Board of Directors during its January 17, 2023 meeting. Board members include:

  • Jose Trinidad Castaneda, City of Buena Park Councilmember
  • Fred Jung, City of Fullerton Mayor
  • Casey McKeon, City of Huntington Beach Councilmember
  • Tammy Kim, City of Irvine Vice Mayor
  • Kathleen Treseder, City of Irvine Councilmember
  • Donald P. Wagner, County of Orange Third District Supervisor

The Board of Directors selected Fred Jung to serve as Chair and Kathleen Treseder as Vice Chair.

“Orange County Power Authority is addressing climate change and building heathier, more resilient communities for generations to come – and it’s incumbent upon our new Board to ensure its success,” stated Fred Jung and new Board Chair. “We will work together to keep delivering on our promise to give customers choice in who their electricity provider is and how much renewable energy they want to help procure to put onto the grid.”

As a locally governed not-for-profit community choice energy provider, OCPA’s Board of Directors is made up of elected officials who are appointed by the city councils and Board of Supervisors that they were elected to. OCPA is helping communities meet their climate goals by offering a greener source of electricity at stable rates. OCPA is also working to provide long-term sustainability to Orange County by bringing additional renewable energy projects online, which creates jobs.

“We are grateful for the dedicated service of Mike Carroll, City of Irvine Councilmember; Farrah Khan, City of Irvine Mayor; Susan Sonne, City of Buena Park Councilmember and Dan Kalmick, City of Huntington Beach Councilmember whose Board appointments concluded in December 2022,” said Jung. “Under their strong leadership, OCPA successfully launched commercial and residential service.”
