Orange County Power Authority to Provide $250,000 In Savings for EV Chargers and Solar Battery Storage

IRVINE, Calif. (April 16, 2025) – Orange County Power Authority (OCPA) announced two new rebate programs designed to support renewable energy adoption for customers in member cities. As a not-for-profit agency, OCPA reinvests its revenue back into the communities it serves in a variety of ways, including energy efficiency programs for customers. These latest programs will award a combined total of $250,000 in rebates for residential customers.

“We are thrilled to have our first programs that support EV charging and rooftop solar with battery storage here at OCPA, two initiatives that are critical to reaching a carbon neutral future,” said Susan Sonne, OCPA Board Chair. “Providing value to our customers and helping them transition to clean energy is our top priority.”

The EV Charger Rebate Program offers:

  • Up to $1,000 rebate for residential Level 2 hard-wired EV chargers purchased through the OCPA Marketplace where chargers range from $500-$600, making them no-cost to customers

Solar Battery Rebate Program offers:

  • A $1,000 rebate for rooftop solar installations that include a battery storage system, or standalone battery storage for those who already have solar panels
  • Rebates will be available beginning July 2025; more details will be available soon at ocpower.org

The new OCPA rebates are in addition to other existing EV charging and solar plus battery storage programs, incentives, and tax credits that customers may be eligible to receive. OCPA will be developing a landing page on its website to promote all opportunities for customers to save money on these clean energy programs.
